Binayât Beirut is made out of the book material of its story. The book is a paperback Arabic edition of Hassan Daoud’s first novel ‘Binayat Mathilde’ that tells the story of the inhabitants of a Beirut building during the war, putting forward anecdotal individual practices and different uses of space that can lead to tragedy.

In this modified bookwork, the pages are folded and piled into a cityscape-like structure in a way that seems both precise and unclear, an elaborate child’s game that makes it look playful but also possibly dangerous.
